IBA Young Beekeeper Program

Winner of the 2010 Young Beekeeper of the Year Award? Rebecca Eldridge, addressed the crowd at the opening of Bee School IX. "The United States is 5th in world honey production," she said. Her goal is to help the U.S. rank higher on the scale.

The Indiana Beekeepers Association has a program for young new beekeepers. In addition there is a young Beekeepers Award program that we want to share with all young beekeepers in our group.

Do you have bees or are you a beekeeper 12-22 years of age?

Interested in earning cash? We give awards for First, Second and Third place in two catagories. All finalists must be present at the Fall meeting which will be at McCormick's Creek State Park on November 3, 2012. Finalists lodging expenses will be provided by the IBA.

Read below for award eligibility.

Award eligibility based on the following criteria:

  • Must be 12-16, 17-22 years of age.
  • Must be currently involved with beekeeping.
  • Must be recommended by their 4-H leader, Boy/Girl Scout leader, any IBA member in good standing, any former or current beekeeper, FFA sponsor, high school teacher, or college professor in any agriculturally related field.
  • Must be a resident of Indiana or, if not, their parent(s) must be a member(s) of the Indiana Beekeepers’ Association.
