"I've done these myself and I'm glad I did. Garry showed us best practices in efficiently assembling frames. We made 230 of them in a day. We're so fortunate to know someone like Garry, who is eager to share his knowledge and bolster the spirit of Beekeeping. Click here to see the operation." -J. Morgan
These sessions are FREE and for anyone interested in learning how to build their own equipment. SIBA's Garry Reeve's is opening his workshop to us. Garry can build it ALL as evidenced by our snazzy meeting place. He'll demonstrate how to cut rabbet, finger joints and hand-holds, among other things to make your own bee boxes. He can also show you how to assemble frames and foundation. Let Garry lead and assist you in building your own practical an economical equipment. It sure does save you a lot of money if you know how to make the basics.
These are very informal workshops. I have done these myself and I'm very glad I did. Garry showed me and two others best practices in efficiently assembling frames. We made 230 of them in a day. This is something we could not have done anywhere else. These are work times when Garry is working in his shop anyway. Anyone is welcome to come and simply help assemble if it's only the knowledge they want to glean this time around. If you have something specific, contact Garry via email by clicking here. He can let you know if he would be able to help you with it that day. Garry will be eager to assist the first takers and of course, there's only so much that can be done in a day, or evening. See the work times below.
You should bring:
- Safety glasses
- Your idea
- Wood and materials
- Glue/air nailer (Garry has air) Don't feel like you have to have a nailer to come. There are hammers.
Garry does all the cutting. Again, bring your safety glasses! You cannot work in the shop without safety glasses.
The sessions are as follows:
- Tues. Jan. 3, @ 6:00pm
- Sat. Jan. 14, @ 9:00am
- Tues. Jan. 17, @ 6:00pm
- Sat. Jan. 28, @ 9:00am
We're looking for any senior beekeepers to help Garry oversee at all of these sessions. Please contact him if you are interested and able.
