SIBA General Meeting – Splits, Jason Morgan

April 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The topic for April will be splits! Splitting hives is one of the most useful tools in beekeeping... whether you’re trying to prevent swarming, increase colony count, or recover from losses. The “best” method really depends on your goal, timing, and what resources (bees, brood, queens) you have available.

Just ahead of Jim Orem's Saturday field day on April 18 and the fact we're heading into splitting season, a discussion on splits is perfectly timed. Jason Morgan will lead the meeting with a review of the Whats, Whys and Whens of different types of splits, in an open discussion format. We'll discuss different types of splits and when you might use one versus another.

UPDATE: View the Slide Deck Jason presented at the meeting.

SIBA Meetings occur the 3rd Thursday of each month through the year with topics being added to the event ahead of each meeting. Meetings are held at 6:30pm at the Sunman American Legion unless otherwise stated ahead of time in the newsletter and website. We're also looking for volunteers to help make the club GO. Contact us to let us know you are interested in helping out!
